From 1999 to 2003, I was Director of New Media for C-SPAN, the Washington, DC-based
private, 501(c)(3) non-profit national public affairs network on cable, satellite TV, and the Web.
I was recruited by the national public affairs network to lead its strategic move to the Web in support of marketing, content distribution, and interaction with viewers. As part of C-SPAN's senior management team, I reported directly to the COO and had executive responsibility for the network’s online strategy and operations, including technology and business development.
My management responsibilities and activities at C-SPAN included:

- Hired 10-person operations team, created and maintained 11 websites, and fully integrated Web with operations of Programming and Marketing departments.
- Created and managed external technology partnerships including Real Networks and Akamai, developed pioneering video search project with Virage, and content syndication business with AOL.
- Led complete redesigns of network Web services; conceived and managed external technology partnerships in development of customized administrative databases and content management systems to drive network websites and other online services.
